Emma is back! - Rise like a phoenix?
Emma is singing out her heart and all of her emotions...
Who is Emma?:
Firstly you have to know who Emma is, to understand why every person of the Eurovision family is flipping out about her return.
She competed in UMK 2017, the Finnish national selection, and finished third last year.
At first glance this seems not bad but she was the favourite to win the show and to represent Finland in Kyiv with her song Circle of Light. She sadly failed to do so during to technical problems in her final performance and although she got high votes of jury and televoting, she could not win... as I said - sadly!
Emma was one of the biggest fan favourites and stayed in the hearts of the Eurovision fans and after she fell into a depression, the girl from Finland recovered and participates now in the San Marinese online selection "1in360".

What does this mean and how was her appearance?:
"1in360" should elect the act for San Marino for the upcomming Eurovision Song Contest.
Firstly there is an Internet election and after this a professional jury will choose a few acts who will compete in a national selection in which the public of San Marino can vote for their favourite. ZOE, Austria's representative of 2016, and Mans Zelmerlöw, winner of the ESC 2015, joined the show as jury members to help the San Marinese that they can elect the most suitable act.
Emma uploaded a video in which she is singing the song Rise up, a song which could not be more suitable for her situation. And she stands there as a strong woman and personally I can only see a person without any regrets of the past.
You can listen to beautiful notes and well performed parts of the song like you (maybe ;-) ) never heard before. For me it is very interesting that she chooses a staircase to perform because it requires courage to sing in front of so many ears which might can listen through their doors.
But - and this underlines my former statements - she had done very well and the staircase gives her voice a much better acoustics than any other room can give.

What do I think about her chances?:
At first I want to say that I am very happy about her "comeback". I loved Circle of Light and furthermore I loved the artist who was singing this song.
Emma had to suffer due to the "defeat" of UMK but she fought back and for me - successfully! Personally I could not find any reason why zhe producers should not take her as one of the acts for the Live Shows.
She is very likeable, the Eurovision fans know her and most important - she gets a stunning voice with a high potential.
So - please - San Marino, I know you love Valentina Monetta (me too!) but now it is time to develop! Choose Emma and you will join the final in Lisbon, so do not be stupid! The fate is in your hands! Emma, good luck but I think if you belive in yourself, you will not need it :-)
