On my way - Back in Kiev, back to Slovenia?

The EMA, the Slovenian preselection, took place on last Friday and Omar Naber was announced as the winner in front of the Public favorite, BQL.
His song On my way earned so many points from the jury vote that the public decision was in the end unnescessary because ther he only placed second but after every voteswere added he was in the lead with 14 points more than the Runner-up.
Omar Naber was the Slovenian artist back in 2005 when the Eurovision was held in, correct, KIev so he knows the city and the situation at Eurovision but anyway, we should not forget that he has not reached the final...

Cliché ballad like a soap opera opening song:
On my way sounds as simple as you think about it in the first moment when you only listen to the title. A dark opening which is accompanied by a piano marks the start of a boring ballad. Sometimes the simplicity remind me on a soap opera opening song because you can only remember on the Chorus but anything else you cannot remember on.
You are waiting on the Bridge and something special but where is something special?!
Ok, he raise up his voice the one or another time but this is not the way to perform a well song. Honestly I think that the only positive aspect about the song is that he looks as unspectacular as the title sounds and in addition with this, the harmony between singer and song is really well but not in a way it should be.

The conclusion:
Firstly I have to say that this is really the worst song of this year's Eurovision at this moment and to be honest it is really difficult to place behind Manel Navarro.
Secondly I have to criticize his way to perform because when I was looking the clip of his performance for the first time, I quested: "Does he feel what he sing?".
You can see that the harmony of singer and song is good but the connection seems to be to enforced.
Furthermore I think that this song cannot reach the final because the simplicity of the whole performance (with lyrics and rhythym) did not work and sometimes he looked lost on the big stage but at this point you will not think about the bigger stage at Eurovision. The song has nothing interesting, it is the toilett break song. Sorry Slovenia but I am so disappointed about your choice and I am not the only one so take care about a well decision next year!
