Time - How far can the host get?
Preselection with the help from a winner:
Everyone was happy about the success from Jamala and now the question is, if it is an honour or a high pressure for the contestant in this year?
The preselection was the same like in the last year. Why should you change a well working system? One part of the jury in this year was last year's winner, Jamala and so she took part on who should follow on her.
The winner was O.Torvald who will try to represent their country in the best way and step into the big footprints of Jamala. The Rock in the song is something different but is it the right recipe for Eurovision?

Firstly mediocre but then...:
Time sounds like a typical Rock song because of the title and the start. A dramitically begin, more or less, which is followed by a weak Chorus. That is the sober result.
The Rock theme should transform the number in something different like Jamala's song was but it did not work at the whole time. One big problem of the song is that it develops to fast into a boring and monotonous fight between the singer and his song.
I have got an impression that the singer in front of the band got heavy problems to sing the song. It sounds like he is not able to reach the full power of his song because his voice has not got enough power. That is a fight against yourself!
BUT there is one point that changed my total opinion because the Bridge is an instrumental one which I enjoyed so much at the first time. The song gets now his special impact on the viewer and makes it able to stay in the minds. We will see how successfull this can become...

Anyway, the Ukrainian entry is the most special one this year, it is the loudest and "rockiest" song and those one which gets the most power.
I have to add that I am thinking that the best thing about it is the staging what is really nescessary in Eurovision. If you got an outstanding performance, you make it more easy for the viewer to sty in mind, ask Sergey Lazarev... Well, I think also that the Ukraine searched something different and special like last year and this search was more or less successfull.
It was a well choice to chosse a Rock song but the implicit problem is the harmony between singer and song, not the simple lyrics which are there at the one or another moment.
As I have mentioned it in the second part: You felt the inharmony and the problems of the singer. He does not get such a powerfull voice like Jamala has.
I think it is a well choosen entry but by far not the best from the Ukraine in the last year and that is why I am thinking that they will place something between 7th and 15th place but I wish the hostnation the best of luck and success for their representation!
