Amar pelos dois - Feel the South...
A song from the sister:
Salvador Sobral is the winner of this years' Festival da Cancao, the Portugese national selection. Finally, and I would like to mention it at this moment, they changed a few rules so it was possible for the first time to sing a song completly in English.
Anyway, his song was written by his sister and as you may hear it, with a lot of love.
But is this enough to catch the hearts of the audience?

Feel what Portugal is like:
When I listened to the song for the first time, I dreamed about walking down a street in Lisbon to the harbour. Only a weak breath of the air and the monlight......
You definitly feel the love between sister and brother in this song and it is not possible to say that there are no emotions.
His facial expressions and gestures were on point and obviously it reachs my heart.
But the problem is that it might become very boring in a more or less fast way.
It is dificult if you do not speak Portugese to understand what he is singing about and the Bridge is meh....

The conclusion:
All in all the Portugese entry gets such a big charme that it is not possible to say that it is only boring.
Well, the tempo of this ballad is very monotonous but ,as I have mentioned, his facial expressions were absolutely amazing and furthermore he played with the song like it is in him.
To put it in a nutshell I think that he will earn a lot of votes from the juries because we have some nationality in the song and I think it is a style which a jury with experienced musicians could love. The only question is how many viewers he could reach and how many will vote for him. Maybe a borderline entry but probably he can place last. It is to dificult to decide in an obvious way!
