Line - Europe's freshest country at Eurovision
Between everything:
Again the "Supernova" took place at the Latvian national selection for the upcomminc Eurovision Song Contest. After the outstanding results for the Baltic country in the last years, it was no suprise that the modern show was taken for announcing an act who should represent them in May.
The winner was Triana Park who is a band from the capital Riga. In a funny show with a Beaver break (watch out on YouTube!) they were the favorite of the public in the Superfinal where four acts fighted for the ticket. But is this song as fresh and modern as the former entries were? Because the song is something between everything (mixture of Jazz, Electro etc.)

Interesting uptempo sounds:
Firstly I have to say that there is no moment which is not interesting to hear to because of the mixture between so many genre. There you have some moments of Rock sounds or moments where Jazz dominates the number, really fresh!
The start is in comparison to the rest of the song very calm but it develops into an uptempo presentation which definitly gets its highlight at the Chorus. It grows and grows finally to a Punk-Chorus with modern Electro beats and the mixture is not only interesting, no, it is furthermore really harmonic and thats what I like.
Well, last but not least there is a negative aspect. The lyrics are dominated by the key word "Line" and of course it is the name of the song but there are more options to make the song more individual so that it does not start to monotonous.

The conclusion:
Line continues the style of the former Latvian entries. We have something modern and fresh which definitly should impress the younger generation and of course thats why I have titled this Song Review in this way. There is no country which have got such a young preselection.
Also Triana Park is very interesting because of the mixture of the different genres. At every moment you get a new impression and, for me, the end suprisingly came up very fast because you only wait on something new. It is very difficult in the first time to notice every single influence and probably it sounds a bit "creepy" because of the way how the song is (vmany impressions of different music styles) and how the band looks like.
All in all I think that Triana Park will get through to the final because firstly there are a lot of Eastern European countries in their Semi-Final and secondly the song is different and can impress the younger viewers, if there are any ;-)
For the final, I think, is something between 10th and 20th place very realistic but to finish with something new, we are very exited to see the presentation on a bigger stage.
